Staff Positions

Graphic Designer

As a key member of the Marketing team, the Graphic Designer is responsible for directing, designing, and producing college materials including print collateral, advertising, e-communications, and web-based design for the college.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages design projects with a creative team from concept, design, development, to implementation, execution and production for all communication materials (brochures, posters, invitations, programs, etc.) for all clients.
  • Responsible for the overall design process, enforcing project management processes working with all clients within the institution to deliver creative service excellence, while protecting the essence of the brand.
  • Designs and produces all college collateral print materials.
  • Designs print and web-based advertising.
  • Designs all web-based graphics and e-communications.
  • Serves as Production Coordinator; coordinating print production with college print center and external print vendors, including file preparation, paper selection, and press checks.
  • Coordinates photo shoots.
  • Works collaboratively with outside design firm and other freelance artists and writers.
  • Assists with college social media initiatives.
  • Serves as a design resource for campus departments and offices regarding their print and web-based publications, materials, and communications.
  • Manages and maintains editorial conventions, graphic standards, and brand guidelines.
  • Maintains disc files of material published as well as photo archives.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree/certificate; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of computers and software used in designing published material.
  • Strong background in art and design.
  • 3+ years experience with a portfolio.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent creative, organizational, and detail skills.
  • Ability to traffic projects and successfully present creative concepts.
  • Knowledge of the latest in creative design tools is critical.
  • Experience in digital photography for print-based and Web design.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a in a team environment.
  • Adaptability in meeting the changing needs of a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to juggle multiple, competing priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the print and electronic publishing process from concept to completion; solid understanding of color theory, design principles and typography.

Web Content Editor

The Web Content Editor is responsible for the day-to-day management of the college's website, social media, and electronic marketing.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Researches, writes, edits, structures, updates, and maintains the College's website, and supports Marketing initiatives including, but not limited to, e-mail campaigns, web-based magazines, e-newsletters, and social media.
  • Develops content through the creative writing and editing of copy; ensures proper communication with appropriate personnel to review content, design, layout, and usability before publishing on the web.
  • Writes and edits online copy for clarity, grammatical correctness, and consistency with Elms College's style guides.
  • Proofreads and ensures that corrections, updates, and changes are made on the web. Maintains and updates content on selected sites as needed.
  • Monitors College's website for outdated content, broken links, usage patterns, and assists with analytics of the College website. Makes recommendations for web improvements.
  • Works with the Marketing Director and staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of marketing communications for both electronic and print publications.
  • Serves as the Team Leader for campus web CMS training and facilitates web user group meetings.
  • Stays current with best practices in higher education web recruitment, marketing, and social media as well as tools, trends and technologies.
  • Directs the work of student employees in Marketing; guides them in identifying and creating compelling content for recruitment related sites, online newsletters, and social media networks.
  • Assists in locating and selecting suitable artwork, photographs, and multimedia for the website and for use in electronic marketing projects/initiatives.
  • Develops and assists in creating multimedia content for the website and other electronic marketing efforts, working with Marketing staff, campus staff/faculty, and third-party vendors as needed.
  • Collaborates with college staff, faculty, and administrators to plan, create and enhance their web site content and web presence. Serves as their "point of contact" for issues relating to web site design and development, message strategy and the creation of content.
  • Works collaboratively with IT department on web-related problems.
  • Complies with Marketing department standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Attends meetings and serves on committees as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in English, liberal arts, journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Demonstrated expertise with web content management and social media technologies.
  • Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Experience with web page development.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience working with Marketing Department in an academic setting highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge and ability to create and manage web content.
  • Strong knowledge of and competency with web development and content management system software.
  • Excellent editing, writing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of data and information.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, planning, customer service, and project management skills.
  • Ability to analyze problems, issues and proposals, make recommendations, and utilize sound judgment in implanting the appropriate course of action.
  • Must be results-oriented, highly motivated, flexible, and able to manage multiple competing responsibilities, deadlines, and projects.
  • Stays current with issues, developments, and initiatives involving web technology and marketing trends in higher education.
  • Ability to effectively conduct trainings and facilitate group meetings.
  • Ability to adheres to FERPA regulations and all College policies.
  • May be required to work some night and weekend hours on occasion.
  • Background check will be conducted for this position. Valid driver's license with good driving record required.

Admissions Counselor

The Admissions Counselor is responsible for travelling to specified geographic recruitment areas to cultivate student applicants; attending college fairs and visiting high school visits; giving presentations to a variety of audiences in different formats; interviewing prospective students; managing and reviewing applications and recommending admission decision; utilizing software for data analysis and report generation; telemarketing and social media/network development and engagement; participating in campus recruiting and attending social and public relation events.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Develop a recruitment process specific to the designated geographic area including Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, and Berkshire and Hampshire Counties in Massachusetts.
  • Establish recruitment relationships with high schools presenting and promoting the College at college fairs and high school visits.
  • Identify and establish new recruitment opportunities. Works with the Director of Admissions in establishing enrollment goals.
  • Establish working relationships with faculty members to develop recruitment opportunities.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of open houses and orientation sessions at Elms College.
  • Advise prospective students. Review applications and interview applicants. Monitor the application process and maintain continued contact by phone, email, or other means with prospective students in region. Make recommendations regarding admission decisions. Provide information and assistance to students regarding obtaining financial aid. Maintain contact with Financial Aid to assist the student with the process. Maintain a working knowledge of programs and services available. Act as an advocate for the prospective and current student by articulating their needs as it pertains to programs, schedules, etc. to the Director of Admission.
  • Assist in designing and implementing marketing strategies to increase full-time enrollment. In consultation with the Director of Admission, design, implement and coordinate a variety of communications and utilization of social media and texting with prospective students. Work collaboratively with Institutional Marketing on the placement of advertising pieces.
  • Prepare reports on travel, applicant review, and telemarketing as requested by Director of Admissions. Work with the Director of Admission in establishing enrollment goals.
  • Assists the Associate Director in data management, data analysis, report generation, email campaigns and social media networking.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of admissions, preferably in higher ed. Must have a working knowledge of Admissions software and data reporting programs (e.g., Crystal reports).
Excellent computer skills and experience with social media are required. Excellent and effective communication skills, high level of motivation, organizational skills, ability to work independently as well as collaboratively are required. Ability to work with a diverse population. Strong commitment to the mission of the college and to our students is necessary. Valid driver's license required. Must be willing to travel and work a variety of hours, including overnight and weekends.

Master of Science in Nursing with a clinical major or earned doctorate preferred OR Bachelors of Science in Nursing and required qualifications for clinical faculty per Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing; Nursing specialty in one or more of the following areas: Home Care, Gerontology/Long Term Care, Pediatrics and Mental Health; RN license in Massachusetts; Undergraduate teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Clinical education, supervision, and evaluation of undergraduate nursing students in clinical settings.
