Withdrawals and Policies
Withdrawals
Students must file a written withdrawal notice in the Registrar's Office, and charges are calculated on the basis of the date that a completed written notice of withdrawal is received. The Student Accounts Office will calculate any refund due to the student according to the college's refund policy or the federal refund policy (see below). Student charges are based on the student's official enrollment status (part-time, full-time) at the end of the official add-period.
Refund Policy
A student wishing to withdraw from the college must complete a form from the Registrar's Office indicating the official date of withdrawal. Recipients of financial assistance through programs administered by the college must have an exit interview with the director of Student Financial Aid Services before submitting a withdrawal form. This form is required before refunds will be considered.
Refunds are determined as follows:
Tuition:
A student who discontinues attendance within the school year will be charged tuition for the whole semester unless the withdrawal is within the first five weeks of the semester.On or before first day of classes: refund = 100%
After first day of classes:
• up to10% of the semester refund = 75% amount charged = 25%
• 11% toup to 20% of the semester refund = 60% amount charged = 40%
• 21% toup to 40% of the semester refund = 25% amount charged = 75%
• 41% toup to 50% of the semester refund = 10% amount charged = 90%
after 50% of the semester refund = 0% amount charged = 100%
Housing:
Housing refunds are computed by the month, counting the month of entry as a full month and that of withdrawal as a full month. A $250 cancellation fee will be assessed to students who cancel their room contractafter June 1.
Residential Meal Plan:
Refunds are computed on a daily basis.
Financial Aid:
Refunds for recipients of financial aid are computed according to Federal Regulation #34CFR668.22. Students must have an exit interview with the director of Student Financial Aid Services before leaving Elms College.Please contact Student Financial Aid Services for further information.
All other fees are non-refundable.
