Service, Social Justice, and Self-discovery
To help you in your spiritual development, we offer a number of programs, resources, and unique opportunities that will challenge and inspire you. As the center of spiritual life on campus, the Office of Campus Ministry develops and oversees programs that can enhance your development. Some of these programs are domestic and international service trips, local community service, the Dorothy Day Program for first year students, and countless drives, fundraisers, and events that support some of the most important causes in the world today.
Service to others and social justice are key components of students' spiritual life. To encourage everyone's involvement, our students are required to complete 30 hours of community service before graduating. Elms students have fulfilled this requirement in many places, including soup kichens, food pantries, homeless shelters, and literacy programs.
These are an integral part of our VALUES campaign, which showcases the best of what our students bring to the college and the community.
Our Institute for Theology and Pastoral Studies hosts the Mary Dooley Lecture Series and a number of classes and lectures give you the opportunity to explore issues of faith, religion, and interdenominational relationships.
You will find many other opportunities through every aspect of your Elms experience that will affect the person you become - mind, body, and spirit. We are here to help with the spirit.
Blessings,
Sister Carol
