M.B.A. All Stars

Graduate with a B.A/M.B.A. in 4.5 or 5 Years

Our master of business administration (M.B.A.) gives students the skills necessary to succeed in a global economy at the highest levels.

Our undergraduate students can choose to pursue a combined B.A./M.B.A. accelerated degree program in either the accounting or healthcare leadership concentrations. The B.A./M.B.A. in accounting is a four-and-a-half year, 150-credit program for accounting majors; the B.A./M.B.A. in healthcare leadership is a five year 156-credit program for business management or healthcare majors.

First year Elms College students will be conditionally accepted into the accelerated program if they have a high school GPA of at least 3.25 and a combined SAT score of at least 1,000. They must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 overall and in accounting courses to remain in this rigorous program.

If students do not meet the criteria for admission into the combined degree program as incoming freshmen, they can apply after the completion of their first year, if they maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 overall and in accounting courses. Students who are not eligible for the accelerated combined degree program can still apply to the M.B.A. program after completing their undergraduate degree.

This model allows student to decide at the end of their junior year to participate in the M.B.A. program. After the student graduates with a bachelor's degree in four years, they can work fulltime and go to school one night a week, and finish the M.B.A. one year after undergraduate graduation.

We offer three concentrations within the M.B.A.: accounting, healthcare leadership, and management.

Accounting (30 credits) - 4.5 Year Program

This track prepares you for accounting jobs in accounting firms and businesses.

Healthcare Leadership (36 credits) - 5 Year Program

Pursuing a healthcare leadership concentration within the M.B.A. is a very stable career option, because demand for healthcare M.B.A.s outstrips supply, according to the Arizona State University School of Management.

Management (36 credits) - 5 Year Program

The M.B.A. with a concentration in management gives students a new set of skills, combining the analytical and technical skills of financial management with the problem solving, leadership, and managerial skills of an M.B.A. This provides students with a diverse set of skills that can advance a career in management in corporations or businesses.

Prerequisites

Students who were not business majors as undergraduates must complete these foundation courses in accounting, economics, marketing, and management. These courses can be taken as weekend college courses at Elms College, Holyoke Community College, or transferred from an accredited college. Students need to have successfully completed one semester of these courses with a grade of "B" or better.

Students who earned an undergraduate degree in business and received a B or higher in these foundation courses can begin the M.B.A. program without re-taking these courses.

Admission

Admission to the M.B.A. program is based on several criteria, including both quantitative and qualitative aspects of academic and professional background.

Applications are accepted throughout the year. They are typically reviewed within three weeks of submission.

All graduate degree candidates must have completed a bachelor's degree program with a GPA of 2.75 or better at an accredited United States college or university, or its equivalent in another country. Applicants must submit:

M.B.A. Accelerated Foundation Program

For students who would like to pursue an M.B.A. but do not have an academic business background, we offer an accelerated foundation program. It's an 11-week course that provides an overview in accounting, finance, management, marketing, law, and economics. It is offered twice a year - once in the summer and once in the winter session.

Students must satisfactorily show a basic knowledge level on a comprehensive business exam at the end of the program or repeat it, or take accredited course(s) in the deficient subject(s).
