Communication Sciences and Disorders

Communication sciences and disorders (CSD) is a pre-professional program that prepares you academically and clinically for graduate work in speech-language pathology and audiology. It provides a solid background if you are preparing for a career in special education or in teaching the deaf and hard of hearing.

Our faculty's extensive professional experience brings real-world perspectives into the classroom. They are licensed clinicians who work in western Massachusetts and Connecticut. They share with you their knowledge, experiences, and understanding of the field. Their commitment to their profession and to you help make your time in class, your internships, and career preparation more dynamic.

We are one of the few colleges that offers you the opportunity to complete clinical practica in your senior year. You provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for children with speech and language disorders through clinical placements at both public and private elementary and secondary schools. This experience gives you an advantage when applying to graduate school.

Ninety-seven percent of our students go on to graduate schools, including the top programs in the nation, such as Gallaudet University, Boston University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and University of Washington - Seattle.
