Human Subjects Research at Elms College

Welcome to the web site of the Elms College Institutional Review Board (IRB). The IRB upholds the principles of the Belmont Report and established guidelines for assuring that human research participants are treated with dignity, respect, and with due regard for their welfare. We are committed to safeguarding and upholding the rights and welfare of all people who volunteer to participate in research.

Data Collection for your research can only commence when the IRB accepts and authorizes your request for review and approval of new research. You must receive a study number for your research.

Please submit your research proposal as early as possible for each semester, in order to avoid delays in starting your project.

The IRB is currently not meeting over the summer or during holidays. As a result, submit any proposals for summer projects by April.

IRB Approval will not be granted after a research project has already been initiated.
The IRB will not
sanction any human subjects data collected without approval.

If you have any questions, please contact the Institutional Review Board at irb@elms.edu.
