High School Counselors

Elms College would like to thank you for all that you do in guiding and counseling your students during their search for the right college. You are an invaluable resource to your students, their families, as well as to college admission professionals. As such, we would like to provide you with all the resources you need to best counsel students who are interested in attending Elms College.

Admission Requirements

Each application submitted to Elms College is reviewed on its own merit, excluding applications to the nursing program to which admission is competitive.  While we understand each state requires its own  standards for graduation, Elms recommends a minimum college preparatory course-load to insure a students success in the Elms classroom.

These classes are:

  • 4 years of English
  • 3 year of Math (4 for Nursing Majors)
  • 3 years of laboratory science (4 years for Nursing Majors including Chemistry)
  • 3 years of history or social science
  • 2 years of the same foreign language

Elms College also encourages applicants to submit scores taken on AP exams.  Official scores must be submitted directly from the testing agency to Elms College.  Typically scores of "3" or better are awarded college credit.  Students who are enrolled in duel enrollment college courses or have taken summer courses at a local college must submit an official transcript to Elms College in order to have credit awarded for courses taken.  Courses that are 100 level or higher with a grade or C or better (C+ for Nursing core courses) will be awarded credit.

Application Checklist

To apply for admission, first year applicants must sumit the following:

  • Application for Admission (Paper or On-Line)

  • Application Essay (choices are available on the application)
  • Two letter of recommendation (one from a guidance counselor, one from a teacher)

Admission Counselor Regions

Each of your students is assigned an admission counselor from the moment they first request information from our office.  Our admission counselors are assigned based on geographic territory and high school.  One counselor is assigned per state with the exception of Massachusetts.  We also have an international student counselor and a transfer student counselor on staff.  Please use this guide to determine which of our counselors will personally work with you and your students through out the inquiry and application process.  Throughout the year, our admission staff is actively "out on the road" visiting high schools and attending college fairs.  Please encourage your students to stop by and visit us when we are in your area.  Check out our fall 2010 College Fair  Schedule!
