End of Year Residence Hall Closing Information

With final's week beginning on May 7, the Office of Residence Life would like for residents to prepare for their departure from campus. Each resident is required to leave campus within 24 hours after their last final. In addition, the residence halls officially close Thursday, May 10, at 7:00 p.m. Therefore, if a resident's last final is Thursday, they only have until 7:00 p.m. to vacate the residence halls. Student ID access to their residence hall will be suspended after that point and students will not be able to re-enter the buildings without prior permission. Please see the specific residence hall closing and reopening information below:

24 Hour Quiet Hours Policy:

During finals week and the few days prior, the residence halls will be under a 24 hour quiet hours policy. This will begin at 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 3. At this time, residents will not be allowed to have overnight guest visitation, nor can they have guests that are not current Elms College students. Commuters are permitted to visit, but may not stay overnight.

Student Check List for End of Year Room Closing:

  • Sign up for a time to leave on the sign outside your RA's door.  All residents must leave within 24 hours after their last final. If you're last final is Thursday, you only have until 7:00 p.m. that night to vacate.
  • When preparing to leave, sweep floors and wipe down furniture surfaces.
  • Do not leave any belongings behind.  Remove all trash from your room.
  • Follow the official check out process by seeing an RA in the main entrance of your building. They will walk you through the paperwork and key return steps. Their shifts begin the morning of May 7.
  • Close and lock windows. Pull down shade.

In the event a student lives internationally or has an athletic/academic obligation requiring them to stay past the closing time, they are expected to contact the Office of Residence Life about their circumstances at least one week prior to May 7.
