Coaching

A coach's influence on student athletes is second only to that of their parents. We prepare you to be a successful coach on the interscholastic and intercollegiate levels, beyond wins and losses.

Elms' coaching minor provides opportunities for you to explore different coaching styles so you can lead athletes in all domains of learning — cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. You will learn everything from planning tryouts to motivational techniques to promoting your team.

The capstone experience for the minor is a three-credit internship, during which you work with a mentor coach over an entire sport season.

Students who have completed the minor coach teams in a variety of sports, including volleyball, field hockey, soccer, basketball, softball, and lacrosse.
