2009-2010 Academic Year Tuition and Fees

As all of us face the current financial situation, please know that the Elms College administration and its trustees have gone to great lengths to keep Elms College accessible and affordable without compromising the distinctive quality of our academic programs. Despite our cost-saving efforts, many college costs, such as energy, insurance, and security measures continue to rise and we are challenged, as no doubt you are, by the economic climate.

We remain committed to providing financial aid to you and your family while assuring strong academic programs and moving forward with improvements to the campus in some key areas, including energy efficiency, technology, and campus safety.

Tuition

Full-time undergraduate tuition is $12,394.00 per semester, totalling $24,788.00 for the academic year. Graduate tuition is $588 per credit.Part-time undergraduate tuition is $504 per credit.

Fees

Comprehensive fees are $414.00 per semester, totalling $828.00 for the academic year.

An annual technology fee of $210.00 is due during the fall semester for commuter students. For residents, this fee is $394.00.

An annual health insurance* fee is due (unless waived) during the fall semester for all students. The 2009-2010 fee has not yet been set. This fee can be waived with proof of coverage.

Room and Board** fees for resident students are $4,723.00 per semester, totalling $9,446.00 for the academic year.

Explanation of Fees

  • Total fees include a comprehensive fee which covers; services and benefits provided by the fitness center, counseling, the wellness center, career services, class dues, the yearbook, student activities, student government and the Dean of Students office. Additionally, a technology fee is paid by all students and is used for technology resources for general student use.
  • Graduation and orientation fees: For new students a $55 non-refundable orientation fee will be added to the semester bill. For students meeting graduation requirements, a $55 non-refundable graduation fee will be added to the semester bill. This fee covers participation in events leading up to and including graduation.

* Massachusetts law requires that all students enrolled in nine or more credits must have health insurance coverage. The 2008-2009 rates are $1400 for domestic students and $1550 for international students (coverage is from 9/1 to 8/31). Current rates have yet to be set. All students must visit www.universityhealthplans.com to waive or enroll in insurance.

** There is an additional charge of $300 per semester for a private room.

*** The total cost of attending Elms College can be broken down into two categories: direct and indirect costs. Direct Costs are the charges billed directly to the student by the college (tuition, fees, room and board). Indirect Costs are other expenses necessary to obtain an education (books, supplies, travel and personal expenses).
