MODULE 5: USING THE WEB FOR RESEARCH

In this module you will learn specific techniques to make you an effective web searcher. Finding information is only part of the problem; the other part involves evaluating the material you have found.

Many people who search the web are frustrated with the vast amount of information they retrieve. Finding quality information on the web that you can use in your classes is certainly possible, but it often takes investigating to make sure the information is valid.

Anyone can publish on the web, all it takes is an Internet account and a few basic computer skills. There is no editorial board and no criteria for getting published. The user must supply the critical eye and evaluate all information found.
