Eligible borrowers:
Anyone possessing a valid Elms College ID card, Co-operating Colleges of Greater Springfield ID card, or a C/WMARS patron 18 years or older.

Any persons who have outstanding library bills may be denied borrowing privileges.
Responsibilities of borrowers:
Borrowers are responsible for all items charged out on their cards and are responsible for notifying the library of any changes in mailing address and phone listing.


Loan Periods:

  • Books, including most government publications, 28 days.
  • Media material, 7 days.
  • Federal and state law collections, journals, newspapers, and reference books do NOT circulate.

Renewals:
Material may be renewed once. The transaction can be done in person or online.


To renew in person bring materials you wish to renew to the Circulation desk. Items must be renewed at least 15 minutes prior to closing of library.

To renew online go to the On-line Catalog located on library home page.  Click on "Your Library Record".

Type in name, library barcode number, and a Personal Identification Number (PIN). The first time you access your record online, you will be prompted to choose a PIN. Your PIN can contain numbers, lowercase letters, or a combination of both, not to exceed 40 characters.

If you forget your PIN, go to the Circulation Desk for assistance. The staff member will ask for a positive form of identification before resetting your PIN.

With "Your Library Account" it is possible to review materials checked out from all libraries that are full members of C/W MARS, outstanding holds on library materials, and any fines owed.

To renew by telephone call 413-594-2761 ext. 280 during library hours. Do NOT leave a voice mail message.Be ready to provide library barcode number, title of item, and the barcode for each item to be renewed.

  • Reserve materials are NON-RENEWABLE.
  • To renew Media contact Head of Circulation Department.
  • To renew Inter-library loan materials contact Sr. Betty Sullivan ext. 286.

Recalls:
Items that are checked out may be recalled by a faculty member for academic use. Item(s) must be returned directly to a staff member at the Circulation Desk by recall due date.  A fine of $5.00 per day is charged for overdue recalls.


Overdue items:
The fine for an overdue book is $ .10 per day, for audio/visual items $1.00 per day, and for reserve materials $5.00 per day.  The fine for overdue recalled items is $5.00 per day.


Lost items:
An item four weeks overdue will be considered lost.  Bills for lost items are calculated on the replacement cost plus a processing fee.  Borrowing privileges may be suspended and sanctions will be applied by the Registrar until the bill is settled.  Refunds will be issued, less processing fee and late charges, if items are returned undamaged within 60 days of billing date.
