What are your favorite pastimes, hobbies and interests? At Elms College you have the opportunity to join one of our existing student-run clubs, including student government and academic clubs, but you also have the freedom to start your own if you want to share your interests with others and gather fellow students who share your passion.
Student Government
Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the official representative of the student body. Its purpose is to make clear the views of the student body,and to advocate for its best interests with the college administration, faculty, and other educational institutions and associations.
Academic Clubs
Accounting Association
The Accounting Association's vision is to build a community of accounting graduates that establishes Elms College at the academic and practical forefront of the industry. To this end, the association provides an on and off-campus social venue for the promotion of employment, networking, assistance of internship support, and preparation for general licensed exams.
Future Teachers Club
The Future Teachers Club helps students in the education department get involved in opportunities that will enrich their undergraduate experience. Events sponsored by the club include networking events with area schools, principals, and teachers prior to student teaching, and community service projects that benefit the students in Chicopee schools. Members also discuss current educational issues and create study groups in preparation for various Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure tests.
Management and Marketing Club
The Management and Marketing Club provides a venue for students majoring in management, sport management, healthcare management, marketing and international business an outlet to express their interest in the field. The club provides numerous job shadowing and networking opportunites, as well as non-profit volunteer work, organizing on-campus speaking engagements, and trips to pertinent agencies and firms.
National Student Speech Language Hearing Association
The Elms College chapter of this national organization advocates on behalf of persons with communication and related disorders, advancing communication science, and promoting effective human communication. Members of this club explores the meanings of these ideals to better understand and implement them in the unique communities they serve.
Paralegal Association
The Paralegal Association is a professional development organization designed to enhance and expand students exposure to the legal profession. We accomplish this objective through attending law-related lectures, visiting local and federal courthouses, and inviting local legal professionals on campus for informational presentations.
Pre-Health Science Club
Pre-Health is an overarching term that includes any Pre-Health science field here at Elms College. The Pre-Helath Science Club's mission is to help its members achieve their professional and educational goals. The club hosts speakers, provides tutoring and help with academic advising, participates in volunteer activities, and increases public awareness of significant health issues.
Psychology Club
The Psychology Club provides the opportunity for all students to learn about psychology through a variety of social, educational, and service activities.
Student Social Work Organization
This club provides an informal, supportive setting in which members can connect with the community to practice social work advocacy, participate in volunteer opportunities, and create awareness in the community of social work issues and how to address them.
Student Nursing Association
The Student Nursing Association strives for an on-going atmosphere of positive energy, creativity, and high regard for the needs of the surrounding community. The association promotes a social atmosphere among all nursing students at Elms College and provides programs that are relevant to the unique interests and concerns of its members.
Non-Academic Clubs
Active Minds
Active Minds is devoted to helping students who are dealing with or encounter mental health issues. This club is a student-based liason between Elms students and the mental health community on issues such as depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. The group is active on campus to distribute important information, and also hosts charity fundraisers and guest speakers on this subject.
Campus Ministry
This is an interfaith organization grounded in Catholic tradition with an ecumenical perspective. Members of this club are deeply involved with service work and want to confront the social challenges of the world today. Campus Ministry does service work on campus and in the area, but also travels to West Virginia, New Orleans, Jamaica and Honduras to continue their own spiritual mission and that of Elms College to make positive changes in the world.
Dance Team
Members of the Dance Team perform at men's and women's basketball games to motivate and entertain the crowd. Dancers also have the opportunity to perform at a number of other events on and off campus. Members of the Dance Team are choosen by the Dance Team coaches after an audition.
Gay/Straight Alliance
The Gay/Straight Alliance is a leadership organization that unites students, both gay and straight, to create a safe and supportive environment; educate the school community about homophobia, gender identity, and sexual orientation issues; and to fight discrimination, harassment, and violence.
International Club
The International Club promotes awareness of other cultures and international issues and events. Thanks to this club, the college has seen numerous events that bring other worlds right to campus. Whether it be something as simple as offering Puerto Rican food and information on that culture, or as elaborate as the recent Red Balloon Project that depicted the massive toll war, genocide, disease and hunger take on the world today, the International Club is at the heart of making Elms College an informed, multi-cultural campus.
