Elms College Health Center
The Elms College Health Center is designated to assist students with health promotion
activities and practices that contribute to life long wellness.
Made up of Health Services and Counseling Services, and staff
works together to provide a holistic approach to health maintenance.
All full time students are entitled to use the Health Center
regardless of insurance coverage, and part time students
may use it in the event of an emergency. A registered nurse,
a
physician, and two counselors staff the Health Center.
Referrals to other health care providers, laboratories, and
radiology
facilities are arranged as needed.
Health Services is located on the 2nd floor of the Maguire Center and is open Monday
through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Counseling Center provides a wide variety of counseling services, without
charge, to full-time students at Elms
College for a variety of personal concerns.
Some commonly addressed issues are:
- feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and
depression
- relationship conflict
- eating disorders and body image
- issues of sexual identity
- changes in academic performance
- coping with unexpected pregnancy
and STDs
- alcohol and substance abuse
- trauma
- suicidal thoughts
- family problems
- grief and loss
- parenting issues
- transitional concerns (homesickness, graduation)
