History Department

History seeks understanding and truth through discovery of the past, confident that the discovery can deepen one's understanding of the present. The goal is to help students appreciate the social, political, economic, and cultural forces shaping modern society.

Offerings allow students to interpret and
critically analyze the past by providing foundational courses in American and
Western history, and specialized courses that cut across geographical studies and address the broader themes and issues.
