Why Study History at Elms College?

Our history program encourages you to evaluate historical events with a critical mind and understand how our society has developed and interacted with other parts of the world.

By developing respect for other cultures and their contributions to the world, you become a better citizen globally and in your own community. Watch the video below to see one way our history professors help students understand other cultures.

What Can You Do With a History Degree?

The critical thinking and communication skills you learn as a history major will help you succeed in virtually any career you choose. Many of our graduates pursue careers in education, especially as high school history teachers. A number have chosen to continue their education by pursuing graduate studies in history, education, and other professional fields. History majors have also found the skills they developed through our program - complex, analytical, and creative thinking - prepared them for successful careers in business.
