Experiential Learning
The mission of the Elms proclaims the centrality of Christ and
His Gospel teaching, leading to value systems which are characterized
by a commitment to the service of others, a service that seeks
just solutions to the many problems of today’s world.
We are committed to dealing with global concerns such as those
related to technology, environment, population, justice, and peace;
working towards the general well being of society; and developing
the spiritual and intellectual capacity of our students.
For these reasons, we seek out and embrace programs that speak
to this commitment.
In this spirit, we offer these three opportunities for enrichment
to all students and alumni:
- Inside Washington-January seminar
on politics and leadership
- Winter term in Ecuador: Study, Learn,
Travel
- Mission work in Honduras during spring
break
Financial Aid Information
To be considered for financial aid for these two-week programs,
students must be registered full-time the semester before the off-campus
experience (12-18 credits), and one of those courses must be completed
with the experience (i.e. an internship, language, or cultural
studies course). You will be billed for this course if it falls
outside the regular tuition maximum of 18 credits.
The cost of the program will be added to your financial aid eligibility
for the semester before the off-campus experience, and aid will
be calculated based on that figure.
Elms College will pay the fees for the off-campus experience directly
to the program, and will refund to you any balance for other related
expenses.
Please contact the Financial Aid
Office at 413-265-2238 as soon as you decide to participate
in one of these off-campus learning experiences.
