Honors
Program
The Transformational Leadership program is a unique honors program at Elms College
that not only challenges students on a theoretical level, but also challenges
them to apply their knowledge within the very practical social arena. It is designed
to develop educated, creative, hands-on leaders.
First year participation in the program is conducted
through invitation based on a minimum high school GPA
of 3.7.
In the first year of the program, students attend fall and spring honors colloquia
designed to introduce concepts and theories of leadership, and participate
in grassroots, hands-on service learning. The following three years allow students
to participate in honors courses, and perform special honors-level service
learning, which grows from a hands-on grassroots level to systemic, decision-making
activities. To finish the program, they participate in a Senior Praxis Seminar,
which challenges them to examine a social need or problem and design a practical
solution, which they present to the college community.
Transformational Leadership scholars enter their work
life or graduate school with a transcript that records
proven intellectual skills and a resume/portfolio that
attests to a breadth of applied competencies. |
