Because of the number of resources available, the Internet can be a wonderful place for information. But this information needs to be critically evaluated before you decide to use it for your research.
Consider the following criteria when you are evaluating information on the web:
- Authority - Is the person/organization who wrote the material an authority on the subject?
- Accuracy - Is the material accurate and backed up with citations?
- Currency - Is the material up-to-date or outdated?
- Objectivity - Is the site one-sided, or does it present both sides of the issue fairly?
