Database trials provide temporary access to new electronic resources that are under consideration for a library purchase/subscription.

Please help us evaluate the content and functionality of each resource by filling out our evaluation form. Your feedback is very important to us and we appreciate the time you have taken to help us evaluate these products.

1.  Access World News provides global perspectives on topics related to controversial issues, the environment, health, education, science, the arts, literature, business, economics, criminal justice, and more from a variety of current and retrospective news media including newspapers, newswires, broadcast transcripts, blogs, periodicals, videos and web-only content. Includes Spanish Language, Business, Government and Military sources. We are currently beta testing this product for Newsbank. The beta test ends June 30, 2013

2.  PsycCritiques covers full-text book reviews from the APA features current scholarly and professional books in psychology. It also publishes reviews from a psychological perspective of popular films and trade books. The trial ends June 30, 2013

3.  PsycExtra complements PsycINFO and the other APA databases, with extensive coverage of gray literature relating to psychology and the behavioral sciences. Contains more than 280,000 records that are not indexed in any other APA database, and content from the Archives of the History of American Psychology (AHAP) collection, including dissertations. The trial ends June 30, 2013

4.  Alexander Street Press: Counseling and Psychotherapy Transcripts contains transcripts of therapy and counseling sessions as well as first-person narratives illuminating the experience of mental illness and its treatment. The database currently contains about 95,800 pages of material, including more than 25,000 pages of session transcripts, 44,000 pages of client narratives, and 25,000 pages of secondary reference material. The trial ends April 15, 2013

5.  Alexander Street Press: Counseling and Therapy in Video includes volumes I, II, and III as well as the Video Journal of Counseling and Therapy. These resources include training videos, reenactments, and footage of actual therapy sessions conducted by renowed psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers.  The trial ends April 15, 2013

6.  Alexander Street Press: Global Business and Economics in Video includes 500 hours of real-life documentaries, interviews, and case studies focused on the human side of business and economics.  The trial ends April 15, 2013

7. Alexander Street Press: Education in Video contains over one thousand hours of teaching demonstrations, lectures, documentaries, and primary-source footage of students and teachers in actual classrooms at completion. These videos allow users to observe the intricacies of behavior, tone, facial expression, and body language that define effective teaching styles. The collection includes study and discussion guides; assessment checklists; and themed playlists that provide ready-to-use teaching tools. The trial ends April 15, 2013

8.  Alexander Street Press: Twentieth Century Religious Thought, Volume I: Christianity brings together the seminal works and archival materials related to key worldwide religious thinkers from the early 1900s until the turn of the 21st century. It covers the major strains and new directions in religious questioning that have often altered the very framework of given traditions as well as different theories, denominations, faiths, and political and cultural groups have intersected, differed, and influenced one another. 1.  A to Z World Business provides country-by-country vetted resources on international business and trade intelligence. For each country the database includes: business overviews, business culture, business travel, communications, country profiles, exports and imports, Language glossaries, maps, money and banking, news feeds, security briefings, taxation, and trade profiles. The trial ends March 30, 2013.

2.  Psychiatry Online creates a one-stop resource for information on diagnosis, treatment, guidelines, the latest research and breaks news.The resource includes all APA journals, APA textbooks, and the DSM library(DSM-IV-TR).  The trial ended March 14, 2013

3.  Medline Complete provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more.  MEDLINE Complete provides citations from over 5,400 current biomedical journals and full-text for over 1,800 journals. The trial ends  March 30, 2012.

4. PsycTests provides updated monthly, this repository for ready-to-use tests and measures from the APA features instruments that are relevant to psychology and related fields, such as psychiatry, education, medicine, business, social work and more. International in scope, this resource provides access to thousands of actual test instruments, most of which are available for immediate download and use in teaching and research. The trial ends March 22, 2013

5. Primal Pictures: Anatomy & Physiology Online provides interactive 3-D models of the human body of over 5,000 anatomical structures, clinical slides, dissections, animations, and more.  The trial will run from March 4-30, 2013.

6. Stat!Ref provides nursing, anatomy, and applicable allied health e-resources as well as access to Audiology and Speech Language Pathology modules. The trial ended March 18, 2013

7. Streaming Film Library for the Behavioral Sciences provides an expanding library of clinical training vignettes guided by the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) and other real life behavioral health case scenarios. The trial ends March 30, 2013
