Rhythms of a Faithful Journey
This exhibit will consist of 14 mixed-media collage quilts by Robin Joyce Miller. (Read a Q&A with the artist)
Twelve of the framed collage quilts, which measured approximately 35 x 46, illustrate events and periods from African American History.
Restoration is an abstract portrait depicting a transformative period of the artist's life.
The Last Supper is the most prominent canvas quilt from the Ethiopian Jesus Collection.
The exhibit opening reception will include the slideshow, "Restoring My African Soul," a personal narrative of Robin's journey to restoration and healing through faith, art, poetry and photographs. Most of the images in the collection on exhibit are featured in Rhythms of a Faithful Journey, which Robin co-authored with her husband, James Walter Miller. During the presentation, they will each read selected poems from the book and will be available afterwards to sign copies, which will be available for sale at the opening.
The reception is presented by the Mary A. Dooley Lecture Series and is sponsored by the Division of Humanities and Fine Arts, the Institute of Theology and Pastoral Studies, and the Office of Intercultural Programming.
