"My Account" in OCLC FirstSearch
By logging into OCLC’s “MY Account” while searching the databases you may:
- Track Interlibrary Loans that you have requested (see when an item has arrived at either the lending library or the Elms
- Renewal Books you have on Interlibrary Loan
- Save search strategies
Directions for use
-
To access “My Account”
- At Library Website
- Click “Electronic Databases”
- Log in
- Click on “WorldCat” or whichever FirstSearch Dabatase you wish to use
- At main database screen –
- Click “My Account” (located upper right-hand side of screen)
- If you have not already registered for an account –
- Click “New User Registration” (located next to username & password)
- At Registration Form –
- Fill out all fields with an “*”. Filling in optional fields like phone and address are strongly suggested. The staff will use these fields as an alternative way of contacting you.
- Usernames and passwords must be at least 8 characters/numbers
- When finished filling out form
- Click “Register”
- You should see a message that says “You have been registered successfully” in green next to a white checkmark
- You should also see your name in the upper right hand corner of the screen (hello Jane Doe).
To change your password
- At Library Website
- Click “Electronic Databases”
- Log in
- Click on “WorldCat” or whichever FirstSearch Dabatase you wish to use
- At main database screen –
- Click “My Account” (located upper right-hand side of screen)
- Log in
- Click “My Account” again
- At the “My Account” screen –
- scroll own to the section that starts “Change your password”
- Type in your old password
- Type in your new password
- Re-type your new password
- Click “Change password”
- You should see a message that says “Your password has been updated successfully” in green next to a white checkmark
To add Interlibrary loan to “My Account”
- At Library Website
- Click “Electronic Databases”
- Log in
- Click on “WorldCat” or whichever FirstSearch Dabatase you wish to use
- At main database screen –
- Click “My Account” (located upper right-hand side of screen)
- Log in
- Click “Searching” tab, if not already highlighted by default
- Perform a search
- Click on item record you want (if not owned by the Elms)
- At individual item record
- Click “ILL” icon (upper left-hand corner)
- Ill Form will appear – most of the fields should already be filled in using the information you inputted when you registered for “My Account”
- You may add a comment or fill in other fields if you wish.
- Click “Submit”
- Screen will go back to item record.
To check items in “My Account”
- At Library Website
- Click “Electronic Databases”
- Log in
- Click on “WorldCat” or whichever FirstSearch Dabatase you wish to use
- At main database screen –
- Click “My Account” (located upper right-hand side of screen)
- Log in
- Click “Resource Sharing” tab button
- You should see a list of items requested with the following listed:
- Description – including title, author, and publication information
- Pick-up location
- Status
- Cancel/Renew option
- You may cancel or renew an item if a grey button is shown under this column
Note: When you have completed your transactions make sure to “Sign out”. The link is located on the top right of the screen.

-Click "Bookmarks" or "Favorites"
-Click one of the following database titles:
Applied Science and Technology Abstracts (ASTA)
Art
Abstracts
ArticleFirst
ATLA Religion

Electronic Books (Ebooks)
Electronic Collections
OnLine (ECO)
ERIC
General Science Abstracts
GPO (Government Publication Office)
Index to Legal Periodicals
Medline
PAIS
PapersFirst
ProceedingsFirst
World Almanac
WorldCat
WorldCatDissertations |
-Point your browser to one of the following:

-Click
on "Library"
At the Library Website:
-Cilck "Electronic Databases"
(on sidebar of homepage)
-When prompted, enter:
Your
Library Card Number
-Click one of the databases listed to the left. |
