These two certificate programs are designed to provide advanced coursework in specialty areas for baccalaureate-prepared or master’s-prepared nurses who are seeking to expand their nursing competencies as nurse managers or nurse educators.

Certificate Program in Nursing and Health Services Management

The certificate program in nursing and health services management is offered to nurses who seek to advance their management competencies.  Candidates for this certificate program are prepared with a baccalaureate or master’s degree in nursing.

The certificate amounts to 12 academic credits* selected from the following 3-credit courses:

Accelerated Business Foundations*
Excel Foundations for the MBA*
Accounting for Managers
Business Dynamics of Healthcare
Budgeting in Healthcare
Managing Human Capital in Healthcare
Information Systems in Healthcare and Nursing
Global Perspectives in Healthcare Management
*Accelerated Business Foundations and Excel Foundations for the MBA are required for completion of the certificate in Nursing and Health Services Management as it is a pre-requisite for all other management track courses listed above.

Accounting for managers is a pre-requisite for Budgeting in Healthcare.

Nurses who hold a baccalaureate degree in nursing and a certificate may apply the certificate credits toward a MSN degree if they matriculate within two years of completion of the certificate.

Certificate Program in Nursing Education

The certificate program in nursing education is offered to nurses who seek to advance their competencies in education.  Candidates for this certificate program are prepared with a baccalaureate or master’s degree in nursing.

The certificate amounts to 12 academic credits** selected from the following 3-credit courses:

Advanced Diagnostic Analysis, Health and Physical Assessment
Advanced Pathophysiology
Advanced Pharmacology and Therapeutics
Teaching and Evaluation Strategies
Curriculum Design, Program Planning and Evaluation
Technology in Nursing Education and Healthcare
**Advanced Diagnostic Analysis, Health and Physical Assessment must be taken as a pre-requisite to or concurrently with Advanced Pathophysiology.
