Course Reserves Policy

For faculty who would like to make supplementary and/or required readings for their courses centrally available for their students, materials are kept behind the Circulation Desk for students who may wish to borrow them.

  • All physical materials will be delivered to Alumnae Library’s Circulation Desk.

Please note: Delivery of physical materials and this form should be coordinated – at maximum – within five (5) business days or physical materials will be returned to the department.

  • Faculty may place materials belonging to the library and/or personal copies on Reserve.

Please note: Materials acquired from another library or through our interlibrary loan program cannot be placed on reserve.

  • Faculty have the option to make materials available by semester (End of FALL term, End of SPRING term); by year (End of ACADEMIC YEAR); or Indefinitely.

Please note: Please note: Materials held Indefinitely may be returned after 2 years if unused. .

Course Reserves are limited to physical monographs and/or physical electronic media. Articles, loose materials, article collections/compendiums (e.g., binders, folders, packets) should be made available at the course level (Moodle, class handouts) and cannot be added to the library’s Course Reserves.

  • Items are designated Library Use Only unless 1-Day Loan is specified. Library Use Only limits the borrower to a 3-hour, in-building loan period. 1-Day Loan is a strict 24-hour loan period during which the item can leave the building.
  • Materials will be available within 24 hours of delivery/receipt of both the completed COURSE RESERVES FORM and the physical materials.
