Masters of Science in Nursing Program Admission Requirements

Elms College has a rolling admissions policy for graduate students allowing students to apply for admission anytime during the year. 
Rolling admission eliminates specific deadlines for applications but students are encouraged to apply early.

Non-Degree Study

Prospective applicants who have not been officially admitted into the graduate program may take courses on a non-degree basis. A maximum of (12) credits with a GPA of 3.0 or higher will be transferred into the graduate program upon official acceptance.

Nursing Certificate Program

Admission requirements for the certificate programs are the same as those for the M.S.N. program

Transferring Nursing Certificate Program Credits to the M.S.N. Program

Credits successfully completed in the Nursing Certificate Program may be transferred to the M.S.N. program if the student enrolls within 2 years of completing graduate courses or the Nursing Certificate Program.

Application Procedures
To apply for the M.S.N. program students will need to submit:

  • A completed graduate nursing application and $30 nonrefundable application fee
  • A current resume that includes prior education and work experience
  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate programs and graduate level courses
  • Two letters of recommendation, preferably from an academic source and from an administrator/manager in the most recent nursing position
  • Goals statement for graduate study. (One page essay discussing professional goals and reasons for applying to the graduate nursing program)
  • For applicants whose native language is not English: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required.  Applicants must score 550 or greater on the test
  • All candidates are required to complete an informational interview with the program coordinator or a member of the graduate faculty prior to consideration for acceptance
