Br. Michael has extensive experience as an adult nurse practitioner and a nurse educator, teaching at the Elms from 1988 through 1997. He returned fall 2011 to the Elms as the Coordinator of the Accelerated Second  Degree Program in Nursing . For years, Br. Michael has practiced in health care in homeless settings in Massachusetts, Philadelphia, PA and Baltimore , MD; returning in July ‘11 from a six year assignment in Jamaica, West Indies, where he managed a rural (“bush “) clinic. Since returning Br Michael has completed his DNP and for his Capstone developed the ELMS caRe vaN – a mobile health care unit to serve the homeless and under-served in Chicopee which allows pre-licensure students clinical experience.  In addition Br Michael has taken students back to Jamaica for a Population Health/Community Nursing experience.  Work continues with the doctoral students in developing ways to provide primary care to the under-served of the Chicopee: homeless and in the schools.
