Interdisciplinary Studies

Our interdisciplinary degree programs in professional studies and liberal arts prepare students for a wide range of careers.

Professional Studies

Majoring in professional studies give you skills for any career opportunities that require broad business knowledge. Accounting, management, and marketing courses may be the perfect combination if you have an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to look at the business world from multiple perspectives. Education, nursing, and social work courses may complement each other and provide you with additional career options.

Bachelor of Arts Degree: Major in Professional Studies

All core curriculum and general degree requirements of Elms College must be met. At least 36 semester hours distributed as follows:

  • 18 to 24 upper division (200-400 level) credits (plus all department prerequisites) in a primary discipline of concentration from courses from one of the professional departments listed above.
  • 12 to 18 credits in a secondary discipline or related disciplines of concentration. The registrar will assign the student an academic advisor, typically in the primary discipline concentration.

Liberal Arts

A bachelor of arts degree in liberal arts reveals the connections between seemingly unrelated fields. Rooted in the humanities, the study of liberal arts covers a broad variety of disciplines. From visual art to science, from literature to mathematics, you can explore such questions as who we are, how we think, and how we communicate with each other.
