"America is a melting pot, and immigrants form a huge part of our society. I would like to be their voice through the law."
Concern for Others: It's The Elms Effect
I chose my first major, Spanish, because my parents are Colombian, and Spanish is their native language. It is one of the fasting growing languages in the United States, so I feel that having a Spanish major will benefit me greatly as I pursue a career in immigration law. My second major, legal studies, is a function of my parents being immigrants to the United States. I am also interested in international law, which is why I am planning to study in Spain.
The student paralegal association, volunteering, and tutoring at Elms have shaped my character and outlook. I was never really very interested in volunteer work before I came here. Tutoring has helped me better understand the material better. Working with the paralegal association has led to great networking opportunities.

Goals
Graduate from law school to work in immigration law so I can help immigrants navigate the confusing legal process. I want to avoid working a typical 9-to-5 job and really work one-on-one with individuals in need.
