Perhaps there is no more personally rewarding gift a donor can make than the gift of an education, and a future, to a deserving and appreciative student.
More than 90 percent of Elms students receive a scholarship or grant from the college. For most students, the cost of their Elms education is significantly reduced by financial assistance.
An annual scholarship is established by a donor’s gift which is spent immediately for the purpose of providing a scholarship that academic year. To provide a named annual scholarship award requires $1,000 per year and an agreement to maintain for five years. The annual contribution to the scholarship would be spent in full each year to support student scholarship.
An endowed scholarship is supported by a donation that has been invested and from which a portion of the interest is available to fund the scholarship in any given future academic year. These scholarships can be created with a gift of $20,000 or more, which would be invested. A trustee-determined percentage of the endowed scholarship would be available each year to be awarded to a student meeting any pre-selected criteria agreed upon by the donor and Elms College.
Both types of scholarships can be named in honor of individual donor, family member, friend, former faculty member, or for a particular field of study. Whether annual or endowed, your gift will surely make a difference in a young person’s life.
