Elms College is here to support both current and newly admitted students of Mount Ida College who may be looking for other small private college options. We understand how difficult it is to have to leave a place you have called home, or to have to choose a new college for the fall. Please know that we are here to help guide you as you find a new school that is right for you.

Who We Are

Located in the heart of western Massachusetts, College of Our Lady of the Elms is a Catholic college offering a liberal arts curriculum that gives students multiple perspectives on life. Founded in 1928 by the Sisters of St. Joseph, Elms College has a tradition of educating reflective, principled and creative learners, who are rooted in faith, educated in mind, compassionate in heart, responsive to civic and social obligations, and capable of adjusting to change without compromising principle.

How We Can Help

Application

To support current and newly admitted Mount Ida College students looking to transfer to a similarly small, private college, Elms is offering a simplified online application with no application fee, no essays, and no letters of recommendation.

Our rolling admission policy means that there is no deadline to apply. Breathe a sigh of relief knowing that there is still time to enroll in fall classes, apply for financial aid, and secure suitable housing.

Transfer Students

  • We will accept up to 90 transfer credits.
  • Admission is guaranteed for current Mount Ida College students who are in good academic standing.
  • We will provide an admission decision within one week of receiving a completed application.
  • We will work with students to ensure proper housing and financial aid can be secured.

Class of 2022 Admitted Students

  • We will provide an admission decision within one week of receiving a completed application.
  • We will work with students to ensure proper housing and financial aid can be secured.
  • If students completed the Common Application this year, they can add Elms College to their list of schools and complete minimal additional information that we require.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is still readily available. Students can add Elms College on the FAFSA. Our school code is 002140. 99% of our students receive grant or scholarship aid to support their studies. We offer merit scholarships to both first-year and transfer students as well as other forms of financial aid.

Academics

Just as Mount Ida is committed to providing a career-relevant education, Elms offers career-oriented majors tailored to our students’ interests. Many of these majors mirror those offered by Mount Ida, including graphic design, pre-medical concentration in biology, sport management, accounting, and criminal justice.

With an average class size of 13-16 students, and a student-faculty ratio of 10:1, Elms helps students achieve academic success in their fields of study. Students can also take advantage of our brand new Center for Student Success, which offers peer tutoring and other academic resources.

Extracurricular Activities

Many Elms students are student-athletes. We offer many of the same Division III sports teams that Mount Ida does, including basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, field hockey and softball.
