Film Screening: Niewinne (The Innocents)
October 24 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Join us for the 4th film screening of the 17th annual Polish Film Festival. In partnership with the Kosciuszko Foundation (New England Chapter), Elms College will screen Niewinne (The Innocents) (2016).
Directed by Anne Fontaine, this film is set in 1945 Warsaw, where Mathilde is treating French survivors of the German camps. One night, a panicked nun arrives to bring Mathilde to the convent, where she finds a shocking scene: a holy sister about to give birth, and several more in stages of pregnancy. Fearing the shame of exposure and the hostility of the anti-Catholic Communist government, the nuns turn to Mathilde, although she is a nonbeliever, for help as their traditions and beliefs clash with harsh realities.
Polish films will have English subtitles. This event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. For more information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
