Hugh Crean Annual Distinguished Lecture at 4 p.m. Wednesday\, April 24\, in Veritas Auditorium. A reception will follow. \nThis year’s featured speaker will be Springfield\, MA\, native Sr. Mary Johnson\, SNDdeN\, Ph.D.\, whose talk will be titled “Catholic Women in the United States: Values and Vision.” Johnson is a distinguished professor of sociology and religious studies at Trinity Washington University in Washington\, D.C. She holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in sociology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst\, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Emmanuel College. \nThis free lecture series honors the legacy of Fr. Crean\, who passed away in 2015. He was a pastor\, professor\, theologian and advisor who devoted his life to the pastoral care and education of thousands of Catholics in the Diocese of Springfield.
