Opening Convocation at Elms College

On Wednesday, September 28th at 4pm, Elms College will celebrate Convocation.

This year’s keynote speaker is Mags Riordan, founder and CEO of the Billy Riordan Memorial Clinic in Malawi.

If you would like to meet Mags personally, please join us after Convocation at the Irish Cultural Center at 429 Morgan Road in West Springfield, where a fundraising event to celebrate her work will be filmed as part of a documentary by Irish filmmaker Mark McLoughlin. We hope to see you there!

About the Keynote Speaker:

Mags Riordan is the founder and Chief Executive of the charity Billy Riordan Memorial Trust. The Trust is headquartered in Dingle, Co Kerry, Ireland. Billy’s Malawi Project USA is the American arm of the charity.

She graduated from University of Cork National University of Ireland with a batchelor’s
degree in English and Sociology. She later gained a Master’s degree in Education from UC
Cork. Mags holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Hertfordshire
United Kingdom.

She has worked in Malawi C / Africa for the last 19 years. Her work in Malawi includes the
recent expansion of the Billy Riordan Memorial Clinic in addition to conducting a number of
public health initiatives in the community. She was awarded Irish Person of the year in
recognition of her work in Africa.
