What Are Humans, Anyway? The “Human” Behind “Human Dignity”

Ryan McLaughlin is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies, Philosophy, and Theology at Saint Elizabeth University. He is also an associate fellow of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics. Over the past 15 years, Ryan has published two books on Christian theology and nonhuman animals and written over twenty articles and book chapters on topics including environmental ethics, biblical studies, feminist hermeneutics, and the problem of evil. He is currently working on a book entitled, The Guilt of God: A Dissonant Theodicy. In his free time, Ryan enjoys writing songs, performing as singer/songwriter, drawing, painting, woodworking, photography, and making videos for his academic YouTube channel (The Wandering Professor).
