Library Director Tony Fonseca manages the library’s budget and resources, both human and material, in order to meet the information and research needs of Elms College. He also serves as part-time College Archivist, coordinating the inventory and digitization of both the Archives and Elms’ Special Collections.

In his free time he creates and mixes music in a home studio and keeps up with his scholarly responsibilities by writing reference and other books for Greenwood Press, Rowman and Littlefield, ABC-CLIO, and Chandos (Elsevier). He also runs a small, independent publishing house that publishes poetry and fiction. Currently, he is co-writing and editing a two volume encyclopedia of international hip hop music and culture (graffiti, break dancing, turntable playing, rapping, etc.). His past scholarly books have been on Twilight Zone and I Am Legend writer Richard Matheson, ghosts and zombies in popular culture, films about musicians and bands, and library management and marketing. His scholarly articles have been on a diverse set of topics that reflect his many interests: horror authors, horror readers and fans, Indian hip hop music, film music, learning theories as applied to libraries (Information Literacy), and library purchasing.

He currently belongs to the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, and the American Musicological Society. Because his job requires a good bit of computer time, he is an avid walker—his car never leaves the drive once he returns from work. Tony comes from a large Cajun family which mainly resides in Louisiana, and he learned two things growing up: never give up on The New Orleans Saints and always value education.
