The Office of Diversity and Inclusion advances Elms College’s commitment to creating and maintaining an inclusive and equitable campus climate to help all members of the Elms community better understand the challenges and rewards of living in an increasingly diverse, multicultural and interconnected globalized world.
Elms College is an equal-opportunity educator and employer committed to attracting qualified candidates from groups underrepresented on the campus.
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion works in partnership with the Cooperating Colleges of Greater Springfield (CCGS), Office of Student Activities, Campus Ministry, the Health Center, the Counseling Center, Career Services, Student Accommodations and Support Services (SASS), and the International Programs Office. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion works primarily with students, faculty and staff to provide services that support and protect the personal and intellectual development of the ALANA (African-American, Latino/a, Asian-American, Native American) community, the LGBTQIA community (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual/ally), and low-income students, single mothers, U.S. veterans, and first-generation college students at Elms College.
Celebrating Cultural Diversity as a Community
Some campus multicultural activities and events that we have in the works include Unity in Diversity Month, an annual event held in the month of April, and it is directed and coordinated by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. The calendar of events will include a variety of activities and venues, and it will also offer opportunities for students, faculty and staff to promote diversity, inclusion, love, peace and cultural understanding, and to come together in unity to celebrate cultural diversity at Elms College.
