She holds a doctoral degree in leadership studies from North Carolina A&T State University, a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling and disability studies from Michigan State University, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Lincoln University in Missouri.

Department(s): Diversity and Engagement, Student AffairsLearn more about Charlene HolmesCharlene Holmes is the Director of Diversity and Engagement here at Elms College. Charlene has a decade of experience in student engagement, holistic wrap around student support services, along with curriculum and programmatic development which ensures college access and success for underrepresented groups. Charlene has spent most of her career working with non-profit organizations serving low-income, first-generation, student-athlete, and system involved youth achieve post-secondary success. These non-profits included; the East Harlem Tutorial Program, The Door-A Center for Alternatives, and The Harlem Children’s Zone. Charlene has helped students graduate from colleges and universities all over the country. She is dedicated to helping students achieve their goals and is proud to be a part of this collective. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are at the forefront of her work and she is excited to work within the Elms Community to continue in initiatives that provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all of its members.
