Elms College Dean of Student Success and Professor of Education, Elizabeth “Betty” Hukowicz has been honored with the prestigious Hero Among Us award from the Boston Celtics. This award recognizes those who are making significant contributions to their communities, and Betty has been awarded this award for her dedication and advocacy work for those affected by cystic fibrosis (CF).

Since 1997, the Hero Among Us award has been presented at every Celtics home game to those who embody the spirit of service for their communities. Betty’s recognition highlights her advocacy efforts and her deeply personal commitment to supporting CF patients and their families.

Having witnessed firsthand the challenges of Cystic Fibrosis with her own family, Betty turned her personal experience into a mission to help others. She founded Meghan’s Light in honor of her daughter Meghan’s battle with the disease. This organization has raised over $500,000 for CF research and granted wishes to hundreds of CF Patients.

Beyond her advocacy work, Betty is an integral part of the Elms College community as a leader in student success and a dedicated educator. Her passion for education and commitment to service reflect the core values of Elms College – faith, community and justice.
