The Elms Education Division typically has a 100% pass rate on MTEL exams because it is necessary for students to meet this requirement before entering their practicum placement. Due to difficulties with test taking during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education urged teacher preparation providers to allow teacher candidates to enter their practicum experience without having successfully passed the respective MTEL exam. Exceptions for Elms College teacher candidates were made in S21 and F22 – and this is reflected in the pass rate data for 2020-2021.
