I earned an associate’s degree in Nursing from STCC in Springfield and enrolled at Elms College in 2021 to complete my bachelor’s degree. I wanted to continue my nursing education because I was interested in being a nurse in the intensive care unit, and I needed a bachelor’s degree to do that.
I chose Elms because of its reputation. I wanted to complete my RN to BSN program at a nearby brick-and-mortar college, and Elms was my top choice. I found them proactive and helpful for transfer students.
The coursework is reasonably difficult, but Dr. Emily Cabera is very helpful. She was my professor before she became the RN to BSN program director. She is a very talented and hard-working professor who delivers her lectures in the most efficient way. She makes you fall in love with the subject matter, whether it is public health or genomics. The way she delivers information and her ability to see a student beyond just their grade is outstanding. She goes above and beyond to ensure her students thrive, whether they are in her classroom or online.
I have no regrets about going to Elms College. That is why I am coming back for my master’s degree in nursing. My only regret is I should have done the BSN and the MSN programs back to back instead of pausing for two years.
If anyone asked me about Elms, I would recommend it. Dr. Cabrera is the best program director a nursing student could ask for.
