I work as the health director for a Connecticut public school district.

When I enrolled in the Elms College MSN program in 2020, I was in a new position as a school nurse supervisor, and I wanted to gain new knowledge and skills needed for that role.
I took all of my classes remotely. The Elms MSN school nursing program fit my needs perfectly. All of the courses were offered online, with the exception of the two practicums that I was able to complete over the summer when my school was out of session. The online courses fit into my work-life balance, and I was able to do my coursework within my own schedule. The weekly assignments did not have mandated meeting times, and if necessary, I could jump ahead and complete work early if I had a previous engagement or some personal activity.
Honestly, there was quite a bit of coursework. However, I found it to be doable. And the faculty are very caring, helpful, and eager to provide extra guidance when I requested it.
My MSN work prepared me for the next stage in my career. In fact, while midway through the program, I was hired for my current position as a public school health director. In this new role, I have relied on what I learned at Elms for such things as budgeting the health services department and working with an interdisciplinary team to support students with special education.
I have no regrets at all about choosing Elms College. The online MSN program and the commitment of the professors to each student’s success are key factors that nurses should consider when looking to further their education.
