I’ve worked as a District Resource Nurse at North Middlesex Regional School District for four years, and have been a school nurse for 25 years.  I enrolled in Elms in 2024 seeking my master’s in nursing.  I took my courses remotely.

I had wanted to pursue my MSN because I wanted to continue growing in a field I truly love. In my career, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of education, compassion, and healthcare in shaping young lives. I’m continually reminded of how much I value being part of each student’s care and growth during their school years.

Elms College was the right fit for me for so many reasons. It offered a financial discount for professionals already working in the field of school nursing, which made it more affordable. I also loved that the remote classes gave me the flexibility to continue working, and the small class sizes were really appealing.

I didn’t even know Elms College existed at first. I had been looking at different colleges for a while, but nothing really stood out. Then I attended a nursing conference where Elms had a vendor table, and we started talking. Right away, I felt that Elms was the right place for me. The people I spoke with were warm, welcoming, and truly enthusiastic about the program. I applied while at the conference, and was quickly accepted.  They made me feel like I was part of the Elms family from the beginning. That sealed it for me, and I knew I had found the right fit.

My experience at Elms has been incredibly positive and exceeded my expectations. The program’s flexibility and support from faculty made it possible for me to balance work, school, and social life. It was intimidating at first returning to college after 30 years, but the faculty supported me every step of the way. There was definitely a learning curve, but I learned so much along the way and gained new skills and knowledge that will elevate my career.

Every professor I had was passionate about their subjects and truly invested in our success. They encouraged us to step outside our comfort zones and challenged us in ways that helped us grow both academically and professionally. They provided relevant, practical resources that I could bring back to my job. They were well-prepared, professional, and up to date in their understanding of the material. I also really appreciated how supportive and approachable they were. The professors made it clear that they cared about our learning and about being there to help when we needed it.

I am truly glad that I chose Elms and that Elms chose me. What I learned refreshed and strengthened my practice as a school nurse. Elms prepared me well for the next stage of my career by expanding my knowledge, sharpening my skills, and boosting my confidence.

I would definitely recommend Elms College. It offers a supportive and welcoming community that makes you feel like more than just a student and truly part of the school nursing family. If you’re looking for a college that values your experience, challenges you to grow, and supports you every step of the way, Elms is a fantastic choice.
