Martha Barry-Plotkin received her bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Amherst College and her master’s degree in Spanish linguistics and literature from Harvard University. Prior to coming to Elms College, she worked as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University and Boston College, and studied at the Instituto Internacional in Madrid and the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City. She has also worked and consulted to develop job training and career counseling programs in various corporate and community organizations.
Joyce Hampton, Ed.D.
Dr. Hampton directs the English as a Second Language (E.S.L.) program, and is committed to seeing students improve their language proficiency in order to reach their goals. She directs the exchange program with the University of Kochi in Kochi, Japan and oversees the Asian Studies minor. Dr. Hampton has traveled extensively throughout Asia and she strives to develop a more global perspective in all students through their educational journey at Elms College.
