Elms College Hosts Sister Mary Dooley Lecture

On September 12, the Institute for Theology and Pastoral Studies at College of Our Lady of the Elms in partnership with the Catholic Diocese of Springfield will host the Fall 2022 Sister Mary Dooley Lecture.

The lecture starts at 7 p.m. and will take place in the Alumni Library Theater on the Elms College campus.

This free lecture is the kickoff event for the Diocese of Springfield’s Hispanic Lay Pastoral Institute Program and is open to the public.

The guest speaker at the Sister Mary Dooley Lecture will be Hosffman Ospino, Ph.D., associate professor of Theology and Religious Education at Boston College. In Ospino’s lecture, “Hispanic Spirituality in the United States,” he will speak on the transformation that faith communities are experiencing everywhere thanks to the Hispanic presence and will offer a closer look at the Hispanic Catholic Experience.

In addition to his tenure at Boston College, Ospino is the principal investigator for several national studies on Hispanic Catholics. His research explores closely how young Hispanics are served in the Catholic Church through education and youth ministry. Ospino is the author and editor of more than 15 books and over 150 articles.
