Premedical Baccalaureate graduate ‘23
Baltimore, Maryland
Now enrolled at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine

I am originally from Cameroon in Africa. My family moved to Montgomery County in Maryland when I was a young boy. I am very proud to be the first person in my family to graduate from high school and college. For as long as I can remember, I have had a passion for public health, which led to me earning my bachelor’s degree in Public Health from the University of Maryland, College Park. To aid me on my journey to become a medical professional, I enrolled in the Premedical Postbaccalaureate certificate program at Elms College. After completing it in 2023, I have since enrolled at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, and am on track to graduate in 2028.

I enrolled in Elms because the pre-med post bacc program had some very positive reviews about its level of education and the amount it prepares you for medical school. At Elms, I found the class sizes were very small, the faculty were always willing to take the time to work with students, and the community was both cohesive and one of faith, which I valued dearly.

The curriculum was well-balanced and helped to prepare me for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). My faculty were amazing. They put in a lot of work to ensure that I had every tool I needed to succeed. My professors – Dr. Janet Williams, Dr. Tyra Good, Dr. Jennifer Rivers, Dr. Peter DePergola, Dr. Walter Bizon, and Dr. Sudad Saman – were all phenomenal and crucial to my studies. They went above and beyond to help me prepare for medical school. They helped me understand the content and prepare for interviews, and always offered guidance and encouragement. I owe my success to their relentless support.

By the time I left Elms, I was very prepared for my next journey of applying to medical school. Since I’ve been at Temple, I’ve found that a lot of what I learned at Elms is relevant to my current studies. I am glad to have received a solid foundation at Elms.

Outside of the classroom, I found that even though I was an out-of-state student, I was made to feel welcome right from the start. I was a graduate student assistant for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, served as assistant coach for the men’s soccer team, and volunteered to help with the annual Black Experiences Summit and with different events for alumni and student engagement. In my time at Elms, I always wanted to leave a positive impact on the campus. I was surprised and grateful to have been selected for the first Unsung Hero award for going above and beyond and demonstrating leadership in co-curricular activities.

I really enjoyed my time at Elms.

At Elms College, I was able to grow and mature in so many different areas of my life. I’ve expanded my knowledge and my faith, and I feel well-prepared for life’s journey. I have no regrets about Elms and believe God sent me there for a reason. I would recommend Elms College to anyone who is looking for a great education, small class sizes, and a college community that is very welcoming and a place of faith.

I am a proud Elms College alumni.
