I transferred to Elms in 2022 after earning my associate’s degree at Springfield Technical Community College. I didn’t really have a plan when I enrolled in STCC, but then by chance, I saw a flyer about the advanced standing Social Work program offered by STCC and Elms. This was the kismet moment of my life!  I am now working toward a macro-level career in social work, where I will help create and revise policies that directly help those in need.

I chose to go to Elms because the program caters to nontraditional students by offering in-person classes on Saturdays and online programs during the week. This flexibility gave me the ability to continue working full-time as a legislative aide to Rep. Daniel Carey while completing my degree. And did I mention the tuition savings as well?

Through the program, I secured an internship with the office of state Senator Jake Olivera. Working with Sen. Olivera and his wonderful team, I learned so much about constituent services and policy, which will only help me with my future in macro social work.

Attending Elms College has been a wonderful experience! The faculty goes above and beyond for their students and the Social Work advanced standing program is rigorous but certainly doable. I have experienced so much more than I expected. Continuing my education at Elms is one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. My education goes beyond textbooks, and the faculty ensured a well-rounded program, concentrating on career development. My only regret is not enrolling sooner!

I absolutely recommend continuing your education at Elms College! Elms does a wonderful job at bolstering student engagement and providing a supportive environment for your overall success.
