Summer Reading Program
For the 30th year, Elms College is offering its summer reading program designed to serve children who are having reading difficulties. Staffed by experienced teachers who are finishing licensure requirements as reading specialists within the Master of Arts in Teaching program, plus members of the college faculty, the five-week program will operate daily from June 24 through July 26 (no session on Thursday, July 4). Children will attend from 9:30 a.m. until noon and work in small groups.
Each child’s needs are carefully assessed so that a program of individualized learning activities can be planned and implemented. At the end, a written report is provided that describes the student’s strengths and weaknesses and provides recommendations to parents and future teachers.
An MCAS preparation component is included for students who will be in the third grade and above in the fall of 2019.
Enrollment is limited to students who will be entering grades 1-8 in Fall 2019.
Application should be completed and returned by June 7. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance no later than June 21, 2019.
Tuition is $300 and payable upon acceptance. Limited scholarship assistance is available for those who qualify.
