Your Faculty Advisor
All students are assigned a faculty advisor within their academic discipline/major. Your faculty advisor serves as an information resource regarding academic matters including the liberal arts core requirements and major requirements for your plan of study, the course registration process, and adding and dropping courses. Students must meet with their faculty advisor each term prior to registering for classes. More than one faculty advisor may be assigned if a student chooses to minor or double major in two different academic disciplines. Students can find their faculty advisor by checking their Blazernet account.
The director of advising is also available to assists students with questions regarding academic and support resources at Elms College along with managing academic and classroom difficulties and concerns.

Advising when Changing Majors
The director of advising can assist students who are changing majors. The advisor will meet with you to discuss strengths and best fit for a new major, learn how your courses will fit into the new major, and navigate the process of entering into a new academic program successfully.
Specialized Advising for Undeclared Majors
Students who are undecided about their major participate in the ASPIRE/Undeclared program and receive specialized advising working with the director of advising to reach the goal of graduation in 4 years. Through a for-credit career exploration course in the ASPIRE/Undeclared program students explore strengths and set academic goals towards declaring a major. 95% of undeclared students at Elms select a major in the first year.
Also through the ASPIRE program, select students are assigned a success coach to facilitate applied learning and skills needed to be successful in college. Success coaches work with students to create a student success plan, set goals and share resources to help them achieve their goals in the classroom and in life. The director of advising and dean of student success and strategic initiatives will work together to assign a success coach to a student on a case by case determination.
