A gateway to the campus of Elms College, the historic Emerson Gaylord Mansion was built in the 19th century. The mansion is located on the corner of Springfield Street and Fairview Avenue, and is a short walk to campus. In the past, it has been used as a private home, a residence hall for women, and as well as faculty offices.
