Business students at Elms College

Entrepreneurship with a Focus on Lean Startup

At Elms we approach the study of entrepreneurial thinking a bit differently.

In the classroom you’ll not only study the basics of business — marketing, accounting and management– but you’ll gain practical experience by bringing your entrepreneurial ideas to market.

Using lean startup methodology you’ll learn by doing, developing market analysis skills, perfecting your elevator pitch and applying lean experimentation to business launch and development. You’ll also have the opportunity to apply your learning to entrepreneurial internships and network with professionals with extensive experience starting, creating and building successful new ventures.

Students in the entrepreneurship track gain practical experience by:

  • Using lean startup methodology to determine a target customer base and business model.
  • Identifying and analyzing diverse new business opportunities.
  • Presenting new ideas to the market.
  • Utilizing key metrics and tools for managing finances.
  • Creating and starting their own new ventures.
